as the snow melts

I saw two deer alertly feeding in the field today. Their satellite wing ears touring the hillside for signs of me watching. I was. They never saw. It felt like it should outside today. The veil of fog lifted after seven days, revealing a frosted world as eager as I to be thawed. picking up the lost limbs of the past weeks weight of snow, and tying the flayed arms of conifers to cover their hearts again, was a exercise in soul maintenance. Without the sun, I tend to lose the feeling that I need in my arms that keeps me swinging them forward. This winter and its snow has been lovely but I do sympathize with the trees as they groan under the weight of winter.

oh, rub it in, Amanda. :)
I remember last year we had an ice storm here, but I think your frost is different. Less clear, more hazy. It's gorgeous!

That makes me want to be there. At least there when the snow melts it reveals greenery. Our snow is melting but it leaves a sea of black and brown. I need a little green, and also a little sun to put the energy of life back into me. Oh Spring please come soon!

Speaking of spring . . . Sasquatch???

Deer in the field are an inspiring sight. Not so much deer on the highway trying to run in front of your car, which is where I've been seeing them on drives to and from the reservation. Return to this internet journal after your year hiatus and let us all know what's up. I'm finding its a good addendum to email and phone, an easier way to stay in touch.
